Measuring Our Impact

Image: Measuring Our Impact

Measuring and evaluating the impact the School has on increasing social care research capacity is very important to us.  We have three main areas and a statement of what we will do to capture our impact.

  1. Strengthening individual knowledge and capabilities

 What we will do

To understand the impact on developing and strengthening individual knowledge and capabilities, we will gather information about what we did (our contribution); perspectives on the value and contribution of this activity in terms of social care research skills and knowledge and confidence to use research evidence in practice settings; and the impact of our contribution over time. A range of qualitative and quantitative data will be collected.

  1. Strengthening organisational capabilities

 What we will do

To understand the impact of the School’s work on strengthening organisational capabilities to generate and sustain social care research environments, we will gather information about what we did (our contribution); perspectives on the value and contribution of this activity in terms of organisational cultures and practices and the impact of our involvement over time.

  1. Strengthening institutional processes

 What we will do

To understand the impact of the School’s work on strengthening institutional practices depends on having monitoring in place to capture the changes being made. The impact will be seen through the School’s involvement in public policy formulation and citations. Furthermore we will track our role in influencing resource allocation to social care research. Data will be collected using network analysis and case study methodologies.

Finally, we will use a range of impact measures to understand what occurs as a result of the School’s programme of research and publication outputs, using citations and case examples.
